Meet our Appraisers

Reid Johnston

Senior Appraiser

What expertise do you bring to RWC?

Before coming to RWC, I had worked for over ten years in commercial real estate appraisal. I recently worked at a reputable appraisal firm in Louisville, KY for over eight years, where I focused on gaining experience in valuing various property types including retail, office, medical, multi-family, industrial, residential, land, institutional, special use, and other commercial uses. Prior to this, I gained experience in other areas of real estate including as an Underwriter/Quality Control Team Leader, a Mortgage Banker, and as a Leasing Coordinator at Limited Brands for Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, and other brands.

I’m a Columbus native and lived in several neighborhoods during my youth, such as Dublin, Upper Arlington, and New Albany. I’ve enjoyed watching Columbus grow and advance over the years, evolving into what it is today. I attended the Columbus Academy for high school before leaving the great Buckeye state for college in Dallas, Texas. I earned my undergraduate degree in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs, with an emphasis on Business, and a Minor in Psychology from Southern Methodist University.

Being a Commercial Appraiser can be challenging, which I enjoy. I attribute my history in athletics in providing me with the competitive drive needed to continuously learn and grow in the field. I played football, basketball, and baseball in high school, and was on the SMU Rugby Team in college. Sports have given me a strong work ethic and taught me the importance of a team approach to life and continued success.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy cooking – especially grilling, playing golf, hiking, fishing, kayaking, relaxing at home, movie nights, concerts, stock trading, watching NFL/OSU Football, and spending time with family and friends.

What do you love about Columbus?

I love the accessibility, given almost everything is within a 20min drive. I appreciate the food scene and multitude of options. I enjoy being within close proximity to OSU, especially OSU football. I was born here, as were my parents, and siblings, so it truly feels like home.  I like that Columbus has a bit of everything but not too much of anything.
